Dee Bunbury-Thompson

Level 2

Dee is a certified Level 2 teacher.  She has been singing for the last 15 years, and having been introduced to Speech Level Singing back in 2000, has never looked backed. "Before I was introduced to Speech Level Singing, my voice was very breathy and weak. I could go reasonably high, but there was no depth to my voice. It

wasn't until a friend introduced me to Voxbox in London, that I realised the reason for my voice being the way that it was, was because I lacked a chest voice and my larynx was raised. Thanks to Lucy Phillips, my teacher of many years, I was able to discover my real voice and the wonders of Speech Level Singing."

Dee was so impressed with the technique that she decided to take up teaching it. She has been doing training for the last six years. She became Level 2 in January 2011, and is looking forward to working towards becoming Level 3 over the next 2 years. "What's great about teaching this technique, other than the fact that it works, is that you are continuously trained and tested every year, to ensure that you progress and are up-to-date with the latest findings in voice research." She started off teaching at her singing school, Voxbox, and then decided to branch out on her own inher local area, which brought her to Ascape Studios.

She has extensive experience in the studio, recording for a number of bands, adverts and audiobooks etc. Her live performance experience is also vast, performing in a number of different settings, ranging from small pubs, to Shepherds Bush Empire, festivals and  TV Chatshows. Her vocal style has been compared to Dido and Norah Jones, "Though not a screamer, she would be better described as a creamer!!". Dee has backed for a number of bands/artists including Rolan Bolan, Nashville Sci-fi, Zora, Warren Fitzgerald and Le Pig. She has also been a lead singer for Camden Soul and Monotor. At the moment she is working on a project due to be launched in the summer. Watch this space!
